To help me figure out which fabric would best suit my lineup I created a fabric directory with various swatches inside it. With some of the swatches I conducted boil and burn tests to see the reaction of some fabrics to the test which has been explained in the video below beside some fabric swatches.

I later collected more swatches after creating the fabric directory as I had some fabrics that I found interesting and unique.

In my fabric directory I collected some wools as a possible option for the sophisticated jackets I designed but then came across chiffon fabrics and thought that they would also provide an elegant, playful aura. The chiffon lead me to the satin fabrics and I thought that it would look classy when used as a dress. I chose to use silk satin for my final dress as there is a shine to it to reflect boldness and confidence, however it is not as shiny as viscose satin providing me a happy medium. If I choose to line my garment I would use a high quality polyester fabric which would be gentle against the skin similar to the habotai lining with increased thickness.

I decided to collect extra swatches because of the idea of foiled fabric which I had not yet seen before. The first foiled fabric shown above in the image intrigued me because of the boldness in the shine, the lilac sample also is shiny however, it is less than the first sample. The blue plain foiled fabric was quite thin which is why I ruled it out. I chose cotton poplin with elastane for the designs with printed garments as cotton can take print and dye well. The elastane allows the garments to fit sung on the wearers body and give a sexy, fitted look.
